Before you fill it, please read the terms and conditions below. Please note that, upon registration, you will be asked for personal details (such as name, surname, date of birth, university affiliation, passport number etc.) and a note to describe your motivation to take part in the event. We recommend that you take this element of the selection very seriously, as it will be taken into consideration when selecting applicants.

Posters and Talks

A set of student talks be held at Firenze and a poster session will take place at INFN section of Pisa. Students of all levels and specialisations are invited to apply to present their research work, whether this is part of a thesis project (at bachelor, master or PhD level) or is an outcome of a summer research programme

Info about the selection

In order to enroll to the event you must be an IAPS member. 40 places are available, of whom approximately half will be Italian. The selected candidates will have to cover a participation fee of €100 Preference will be given to students presenting abstracts (for either a talk or a poster) Note: if you are Italian and you are not an IAPS/AISF member yet you can become an AISF member while registering for this event: you need to fill in this module and after being selected make a single payment including both the quotes. Being an AISF member you also get the membership to IAPS Form Please note that unfortunately we are not able to provide scholarships and/or bursaries for any students at this time.

Terms and conditions

Before you subscribe to the event, please read carefully and take note of the following:

All personal data will be handled confidentially. It will not be forwarded to any third parties except where necessary for the purpose of the conference. Please keep in mind that we will forward some of the information in your registration form to the universities and research centres involved. We will also send your name and university to the board of the national/local committees of IAPS to check your IAPS membership. Only students enrolled in a university or similar institution on a physics or physics-related course, as well as up to twelve months after receiving a degree from a university are able to participate in this event. You confirm that you will be at least 18 years of age by 11th of April, 2019. You acknowledge and agree that the organizing committee and the hosts of the event have no responsibility whatsoever for injuries, losses, or damages of any kind that result from your participation in the Lights of Tuscany 2019 programme. You accept the IAPS Code of Conduct. PDF By participating in the event you agree to be filmed, photographed, and otherwise recorded during the conference and hereby expressly grant the organizing committee, AISF and IAPS the right to use your picture, movie or any other form of media publication in contexts such as the internet, social medias, brochures, posters, informative and advertising materials. You also confirm that the information contained in this application is true and correct. You accept that either the organizing committee, or AISF or any of the hosting Institutes cannot be made responsible for the content of any talk, poster, workshop, excursion or similar activity. You accept that, in case of cancellation by a participant, the Organizing Committee will provide a reimbursement up to April 1st, only if a replacement for the student can be found. Before this date, any reimbursement will be made with the exception of a €20 fee, which will be withheld to cover administrative costs. No reimbursement will be given for membership fees under any circumstances. The present terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of Italy.

Deadline for registration and payment

registrations period will end on March 1st. All applicants will have been emailed within March 2nd. Payments will then be required (by bank transfer or PayPal) within March 5th. Please notice that applicants do not need to be specialising in the field of photonics, but can be from any discipline of Physics.
